hey this focus on companies like BHP and RIO is just spin.
it is a diversion.
shareholders own these companies. FORGET ABOUT THE COMPANIES. it is just a labor smoke screen.
43% of aussies own shares directly and most of them own resource stocks
the real issue is that a lot of industrious aussies who have worked very hard are trying to provide for their retirement
a lot of them want to be totally independent and self funded

the real issue is simply this, the owners of these companies are being forced to fund the lifestyles of people who don't own shares.
it is as simple.
people who want this tax either/both a) don't own shares or b) want something for nothing.
