My old man is a baby boomer. When he was 20 years old he walked into the bank with no job, no money and no qualifications. They gave him a job, promoted him and before long he was able to get a mortgage at a small multiple of his income. Try doing the same thing now. You would need a university degree and a sizable HECS debt to have a chance of getting the same job. Once you get it you still have little chance of being able to afford a house on that salary.
