Not only the "welfare mentality" Australian's but many selfish "average" Australians cannot, or do not wish to see the reality that changes need to be forced upon us progressively in order to maintain a good standard of living into the future.
I am in the same boat as you. Worked all my life, have paid my taxes and a, approaching retirement.
If the country cannot accept change then it will be successive generations that will suffer a declining standard of living from here on in.
The days of plenty are behind us as we struggle to compete in an ever competitive world market. We must all feel some of the necessary pain inflicted on us partly by past governments, particularly those of the last 6 years, and by changing world events.
