If SWF cut a deal with Iress then they would probably take a huge chunk out of Commsec's business because of SWF's much lower fees. SWF don't ever seem to have mentioned any plans for an automatic realtime trading platform, so they must be keeping their options open.

At the moment, SWF appear to be concentrating on mobile phone apps, probably because many people now rarely use the internet except via mobile phones. However, the majority of frequent traders who trade multiple times per day are probably sitting at home in front of a big screen.

I agree. Also, focusing on mobile makes sense for them because thats where they can target the relatively unsophisticated 'newer' investors for whom features like real time pricing, order depth and execution quality aren't a deal breaker but a mobile app is a must.

When I was buying on SWF, I looked everything up on commsec but was still concerned about being screwed on the market order.
