IMHO, That's correct. Once you start a CSG well, you have to keep the gas going, or flare it. The water is the cause of the problem. While, from what I can understand, with a conventional gas you can turn the gate valve off and on at your pleasure.
In the case of an LNG plant for instance, or in the supply of a generation plant, IMO the convential gas is better used during peak demand times when an increase in supply is readily available, and on demand.
