I'm not calling these numbers fake or anything, but you also have to be aware that numbers "sold" or reviews on a lot of ecommerce platform are fake. Followers/reviews can be bought. The numbers of sale that are shown can be fudged by paying the ecommerce platform or market place a promotion fee. Whether this is happening on tmall I don't know, but on platforms such as Shopify can show fake numbers to encourage people to feel confident in buying. I'm sure you've seen one of those online stores that show "20 sold in the last 24 hours", well these are not legit and just marketing techniques.

Again, not saying tmall numbers are fake, but something to be mindful of. I can't confirm as I've never sold anything on tmall, but anyone who has can tell you whether this marketing technique is available on that platform.
