I think your attitude is out-numbered here, buyhi.

To add a few points:

1) It has nothing to do with June 30. Try this any day of the year and it is the same result.

2) your REASON for undertaking such a sale+ buyback may not even matter: If there is no material change to your holding, then ATO may well require you to consider it a non-event.
Perhaps you’ll avoid the 50% penalty fee, but you’ll be on the ATOs ‘special’ list for a long time after ;-)

3) just because you want something doesn’t make it true. Just because you reckon you can buy and sell in any manner you want, doesn’t mean you (legally) can. Take your own advice and engage a tax accountant...
