Hi
You are exactly in the same position as my wife who also holds 1966 shares . Your share holding has grown from the initial allocation to 1966 via the dividend reinvestment scheme on offer and your about to get another 60 odd shares.
Why sell if you don't need the money? Firstly you likely to have to pay capital gains tax on the money. I am not sure how the tax office would treat this case. Secondly IAG dividends are franked so your getting a tax refund every year. Thirdly the share price was 4.35 five years ago and its currently at 6.25 and your shareholding has grown considerably (because of the dividend re investment scheme).
Your super fund manager is an idiot.
Also because of reinsurance issues (Hurricane season in the US ) Sept- Oct is the time IAG dips every year.
If you eventually decide to sell avoid Sep-Oct . Nov- Dec is a much better time of year to sell.
I am about to buy some hopefully buy some at around the $6 mark but I am buying them to trade
cheers Lies
