Yep Woody - many smaller operators do not know their costs. I have funded many operators and seen many many dreamers with a simple 1 page cost listings , without factoring in working capital, vehicle replacement in 5 years when it is stuffed ( or wanting a massive balloon because they can't afford it otherwise ) .

I was told this week that one larger operator in WA had dropped their trailer rate from Perth to Port Hedland to 3k - can't see how anyone can make any money out of that and shows how much spare capacity their is in the market right now. After the boom when many operators were netting 20% after all costs without any real regard for cost control because they could pass it on , it has gone into reverse big time .. Lookout below.
