I highly doubt this would occur in 100 years or less (considering the Federation has been in tact for greater than 100 years).

Moreover, it would be unlikely that 'the people' would allow a) the state to secede and b) the state to be sold to a foreign country.

Furthermore, how perverse is it that a group can "invade a country", then break it up and sell a state, rather than give it back to the original Custodians of the land.
