Until telstra puts some growth runs on the board, this stock will be judged purely as a utility, in which case its dividend stream becomes critical. ATM this is being questioned, perhaps not for the next half but perhaps beyond.
If they had chosen to make significant investments outside their core business and those investments had been shown to have paid off, then there might be more confidence in management to do something with the 11 billion. But unfortunately, this is an unknown.
