If the major seller & buyer are essentially one in the same then they can run the price down at little cost to themselves while along the way shaking out & stopping out innocent bystanders & in so doing increase their stake in the co. at a cheaper price.
Now if there was a takeover offer boiling away in the background @ say $1 (or whatever) picking up a stake in the 40's & 50's would be pretty sweet! + an offer coming in @ $1 when the sp is at 40-50 would see most punters falling over themselves to accept.
