Duterte has stated several times, that Mining is ok and important to the economy, Lopez will follow his lead. She will be the gate keeper for dodgy operators as opposed to tier one responsible miners. This is a very obvious political appointment on the face of it.What happens when permits get issued? You say they wont get issued, and i say they will.
Lopez and Duterte will say that the company passed all the tests, great track record etc. The govt has told the investment world that business is important and that it can be done.
Most of the powerful families in the Philippines are deeply involved in mining. I see her appointment as a way of ensuring that only the 'right' companies get to make the money.
