So according to your insightful thinking. The armed insurrectionists were so clever they left their weapons back at home because they knew they would lose in a shootout. So instead they brought...what?! sticks?! And they won without a shootout even though they had no guns to shoot in the shootout...

If you truly believe that then I think your depriving a village somewhere of a very important role.
