It is highly unlikely a government will ever be able to get a majority in the Senate to prevent the completion of Senate inquiries whose findings it wouldn't like.
Since the ALP increased state Senators from 10 to 12 in the 1980s only the LNP has managed a majority in 2004-2007 when the obtained 7 Senators in QLD from having a split LIB and NAT Senate tickets. Due to the LNP Merger in QLD this won't happen again.
It is a theoretical possibility but I would say very unlikely to happen. The inquiries are able to continue during the election campaign though.
