Gambia's president-elect exiled himself to Senegal when the defeated president refused to leave office. Senegal lead a military coalition that was preparing to move in to Gambia to encourage the defeated ex-president to step down (he wisely stepped down before that actually happened). The new president was sworn in in Dakar whilst still in exile. This was all at the end of 2016 - early 2017 - and is all from my memory so some details may not be 100%. Historically, the ties between the two countries run deep.
