Indonesia’s Senkang LNG production project’s start date is expected to be pushed back amid delays in getting approval from the government for the development of the Wasambo feedstock gas field.

The export project will now take longer than previously thought and a new timetable for completion will be issued in due course, developer Energy World told TEX report.

Two trains with a total capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum were due to come online in the second quarter of 2013. A third and fourth train were to become operational six months later, bringing the total capacity of the plant up to 2 million tpa.

Modules for the plant worth more than $200 million have already been shipped to Indonesia.

LNG produced at the facility will supply power generation utilities in Indonesia as well as being exported to China and Japan.
