The Board of Amity Oil Limited is very pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr Howard McLaughlin as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr McLaughlin is an Australian with 25 years experience in the
petroleum industry, of which the last 20 years has been working with
BHP Billiton Petroleum (BHP). Mr McLaughlin's most recent position
was as Vice President Global Exploration, based in Houston, where he
had overall stewardship of BHP's global oil and gas exploration
businesses.

Mr McLaughlin's extensive international background has focused on
exploration, appraisal and business development, and in addition he
has held key roles in marketing and strategic planning.
Mr McLaughlin's skills and previous experience will compliment a
successful and very competent senior executive team at Amity with
Mr McLaughlin undertaking a particular focus in the areas of investor
relations, production growth and improving overall company
performance.

The additional experience and capacity Mr McLaughlin brings to the
company will enable Amity founder and Executive Director, Mr Peter
Allchurch to be able to focus more on the exciting exploration and
business development opportunities existing for the company, whilst
Mr Fatih Alpay will continue in his strategically important role as
General Manager of all Amity operations in Turkey.

The appointment of Mr McLaughlin is the culmination of a very
thorough selection process undertaken by Amity's Board to identify a
quality individual who would blend well and compliment a high
technical skill base which exists with the current Amity team.

Mr McLaughlin commences in Perth on 1 July 2003, on employment terms
consistent with the industry.
