Cairns had the change 3 years ago as we are influenced primarily by global eocnomy with international tourism being 15% economy. Unemployment rarely dips below 10% since GFC and most builders construction gone into receivership.
I looked at own business options and the government strangles you, any retail space rent is too high. It is clear your work is primarily for landlords and government coffers rather than to build a future for yourself. So not only residential housing I think has become too expensive but retail as well. If a shop does well the business itself does not make the gains, the landlord does..lazy income so what incentive for the shop owner?. Will implode nationally from seeing the numerous empty stores in Cairns now if the nation comes to the same fate.
