I think hottod had raised concerns around AAV vector-mediated approaches in general for quite some time now. maybe it’ll serve as an industry wake up call to take alternative approaches such as PYC more seriously, but human nature is often bent towards inertia.
Sahm, who had a chemical engineering background, appreciated the hard edge PYC had over our peers:
1) overall stability of the chemical structure of VP-001/PYC’s delivery platform in general
2) competitive strength of PYC’s (natural peptides - God given state - not man/gene edited) nucleic ingenuity/innovation that underlies the reason why CPP-PMO represents the apex delivery technology - on a risk/reward/efficacy/precision/safety basis.
Sahm often tried to differentiate (see points in the table below) and often gave kudos to the chemical makeup (longest chemical chain length in a lead compound?) and elegancy of VP-001’s (PYC’s platform’s) chemical make up - but I admit it went above my understanding (and maybe the general investor audience, not hottod of course) until viewed in light of the above shocking news update…
But also highlights how lucid the playing field currently is for this new tech, someone like PYC can go from dead last (ignored) to poster boy leader of the pack - the race is still early
