Weeks after Sept 11th, he continued to publish video's with dialogue on events that were currently happening in the world; Afghanistan.
Then a long lull. Then videos that had no dialogue, were not in historical context and pretty poorly put together.
So Al Quaida has lost its leader and financier. They are a shadow of its former organisation.
Of-course that won't stop the US from hunting down all of the Al Quaida members - not if it takes years.
That doesn't ofcourse mean that other new and violent groups won't also emerge. They have a ready army, in the hate filled, starving desperate populations of the middle east and remaining Islamic world.
