I'd be interested to know the concentrate haulage costs to Bendigo - that's an 8-9hr drive. How much will this cost per ounce? How does it compare to toll treatment at a closer plant?
My back-of-the-coaster calculations:
Trucks leaving the mine site per day: 7-14 (so I've heard from one of the locals)
50,000 ounce/yr -> 137 ounces/day (assuming hauling all week)
-> 192 ounces/day (assuming hauling only weekdays)
So a lower case of 9.78 ounces/truck (137 ounces over 14 trucks)
And an upper case of 27.42 ounces/truck (192 ounces over 7 trucks)
A truck/driver cost of $50 - $100/hr (18hr return trip - $900 - $1800 range)
So haulage costs of between $32.82/ounce ($900/27.42oz) and $184.04/ounce ($1800/9.78oz)
Does anyone have more accurate figures? The haulage costs will be partially offset by the savings made processing our own concentrate. Hopefully.
Will there be any opportunity to mine again at Bendigo? On a small scale it could be profitable to target narrower veins that didn't support the whole operation.
Might as well use the empty trucks heading back to Dargues to carry the occasional high grade load.
From memory the Bendigo plant was designed for much higher through-put than is currently planned from Dargues alone.
