Transition in MPLA party to propel development
Luanda - The transition in the presidency of the ruling MPLA, from José Eduardo dos Santos to João Lourenço, which is to happen during the September 08 extraordinary congress, will propel development, new methods, formulas and improvements, the secretary-general of the party’s female wing, Luzia inglês "Inga", has said.

“When there are changes there is progress, development, evolution. Therefore, each person that assumes a new responsibility can bring new methods, formulas, new performance and improvements in conduct”, said the head of the Angolan Women’s Organisation (OMA).
Asked about whether the transition will not bring about turbulence or conflicts within the MPLA, Luzia Inglês ruled out such possibility, adding that reality has been the contrary.
The OMA boss also spoke about the performance of José Eduardo dos Santos, both at the level of the party and the country’s presidency, advocating that the former head of State “was sometimes deceived on many aspects, especially in the execution of several programmes that after being well conceived, drafted and approved were not always well executed”.
She went on to explain that since José Eduardo dos Santos could not govern on his own he trusted in some people who often defrauded him.
On the other hand, Luzia ingles also touched on the matter of gender representation in the MPLA’s leadership organs and in the state apparatus, which currently is estimated at 35 per cent, despite the fact that the United Nations and the regional organisations have now recommended 50 per cent.
The Sixth Extraordinary Congress of the ruling party will happen under the motto “MPLA, with the strength of the past and present, let us build a better future”.
