Eck, dont think drilling fluids and frac fluids are being mixed up here as I didnt believe they were fraccing the Austin Chalk as it had natural permeability (please correct me if i'm wrong here though)

I agree on the volume of the well (~2000bbls), pretty reasonable there. This means that if they used 5000bbls in the drilling, 3000 went to formation, but to get oil to surface, the entire volume would have to be cleared from the hole (+/- some mixing/interaction from fluid dynamics stuff).
I've never had more than a couple thousand bbls in reserve as it would just be a waste of money on chemicals. Thats why if a well begins to lose mud in the middle of the night, i get woken up and the derrick man and all the hands start mixing!! :)
