your lack of understanding doesn't mean that the science is incorrect..
a slow-down in warming means that things are still warming - just not at the same rate as before.. the hottest years on record predominantly coming from the last decade still fits with that fact pattern and would be expected - not surprising (as it is to denialists)
even if there was a cessation of warming (genuine pause in global temperatues) you would still expect there to be quite a few years falling into the Top 10 as the global temperatures fluctuate around their high mark (with not overall increase)
only with a sustained period of actual global cooling (for which there isn't currently a scientific basis) will global temperatures revert back to long term averages - only then would a year breaking into the Top 10 be condsidered exceptional

Have you ever considered that the long-term average might see half the world covered in ice? The only constant is change. If the great invisible omnipotent who/which controls everything wills that the temperature should rise, then you are being an heretic.
