    Have you seen a patent on coal, steel, gold, etc, etc?

    Patents cannot be taken out on resources. Patents can only be taken out on INVENTIONS/ideas that may include a certain mineral.

    Graphene is not a mineral - it's an invention which uses the mineral graphite - "Graphene is the basic structural element of some carbon allotropes including graphite, charcoal, carbon nanotubes and fullerenes"
