re: asteroid has 1-in-60ish chance of earth hit if you guys read the original artilce i posted this morning - its stated that it would not be a global killer but a regional destructor ie enough to do damage to the state the size of texas perhaps and cause some weather disrupitons across the area the size of australia perhaps.

Still more observations are required to pinpoint its exact course there is a 59 outta 60 chance of also missing earth - the other option would be to launch some nukes at it and alter its course (could prove useful proving ground for such technology but there is 24 years to also plan if it is coming at us) offically that is
