I too have been a bit sceptical but the more I read the more I think it is the real deal:
It has an R0 of 2.7 ie on average an infected person infects 2.7 others. The virus can survive for days on a suitable surface. It has a long time when infectious. It effects the lower respiratory system ie pneumonia is common and oxygen will be required for days. A British doctor [below] says that even in a western hospital system they would quickly become overwhelmed.
This is the 10th vid by this guy. While not alarmist what he says is sobering.
