Some interesting view points you have CliveH, I actually gave you a TU as you are out in the world experiencing different cultures first hand. I understand 11% of Kenyans are of the Muslim faith - a mix of Sunni and Shia.
My observation is that the majority of Muslim countries are poor countries, so their situation/plight naturally makes them takers, think Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt all with large populations but all very poor. When they ask themselves ""why are we poor"" they tend to blame the old colonist powers, never their own systems/culture.
Yet, to quote Hasan Al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood ""It is the nature of Islam to dominate and not to be dominated"" And yet again, the Muslim holy text states ""Verily, God does not change the state of people until they change themselves inwardly""
