Private Yemeni political sources, participating in the Riyadh Agreement consultations , revealed that there are differences between political parties regarding their right to distribute ministerial portfolios, which may delay the presidential announcement on the new government formation, which was to be announced tomorrow, Sunday.
The sources, who preferred to remain anonymous, said in an exclusive interview with “Erm News”: “It is possible that the new government will be announced, within the next two days, after it was scheduled to be announced tomorrow, and this is if the remaining disputes about Distribution of ministerial portfolios ”.
The sources stated, “The Islah Party is the arm of (the Muslim Brotherhood) in Yemen, and the General People's Congress Party, the cause of these differences, which may impede the announcement of the government formation, and thus will obstruct the Riyadh Agreement, which is the restructuring of ministerial portfolios equally between North and South. According to representatives of political components and parties, it is one of the most important and prominent of its items.
She emphasized that "there are pending differences, because of the opposition of the Islah party, to the ministerial portfolios that were granted to it, as what was granted to it is considered to be marginal ministries."
According to the sources, “The Reform Party was granted 4 ministerial portfolios, as they were entitled to choose 3 names from the people of the northern regions, and only one person from the south.”
She pointed out that there are “disagreements among the leaders of the Popular Congress regarding the eligibility of each of them to nominate those who occupy the bags allocated to the party.”
And she continued: "The bags that were awarded to the conference are 4 ministries, as it is in the state of reform, as it has the right to choose 3 names from the north, and one from the south."
Regarding the selection of names to assume ministerial positions, the sources revealed that “it has not been completed, until now, pending the overcoming of these differences over the distribution of portfolios.”
On the other hand, the sources talked about the nature of the meeting that brought together Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, and the head of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, last Thursday in Riyadh.
