Setting up IOTA Wallet

Hey crew

I have installed IOTA Wallet on my computer, downloaded from https://github.com/iotaledger/wallet/releases/tag/v2.4.0

Complete newby with crypto, and most of the lingo is computer tech type stuff which I know nothing about. That's what it seems like anyway.

So I wanted to start a thread for myself and other newbs looking to purchase iota, and understand the process a bit better.

What are some tips for setting up the wallet and purchasing IOTA from your experiences or understandings?

For examole: should my IOTA Wallet be "full node" or "light node" & why.
