Sexism more generally refers to the contempt or dismissive treatment of other people, their opinions and views, their capabilities, their fears and hopes, and their work and home roles, based on their gender. Over the last 30 years, we have seen women fight for equal rights and against Mysogony and archaic views of female opinions, capabilities, visions and roles. Many men have supported them.
But sexism also includes Misandry, the similar contempt for men.

Spreading Misandry: The Teaching of Contempt for Men in Popular Culture
By Paul Nathanson, Katherine K. Young
In my opinion, some feminists have unwittingly fallen into Misandry. While Alan Jones got what he deserved, as Malcolm Turnball observed, and while Tony Abbot may not be the most likeable person, I cannot help but feel Misandry has entered into the Labour Party, at least for those men who are not part of the Labour cause or the Prime Minister's faction.
As Orwell observed in Animal Farm, all animals are equal, it was just that the pigs were more equal.
