To me, the question is what do we care for?
I have verifiable evidence that life exists on this planet. I do not know of verifiable evidence that any living creature survives it's own death.
I care for creatures that are alive, and am saddened when people abuse their power to make the limited lives of others miserable. I am not taken by people who make a god/or gods in their own image and use the fear of death to control. I'm not even thinking about the existence/or absence of a god or gods, but those who profit greatly at others' expense by making up gods.
