I believe that PSD is a fantastic project for Northern Australia. With NAIF support I have no doubt the project could be successfully a) financed b) constructed and c) maintained and operated. I don't claim to know any better than the 100s of experts who would have had input into the project already, but for mine the biggest risk is the accuracy of the demand projections. The NA submission 287 estimates output of 125000 t per year, and justifies demand on the back of increased Chinese growth and urbanisation of the population. 125 000 000 kg is a lot of seafood. Does anyone else think this is going to be actually achievable (to find a market for this quantity)? If it were iron ore or beef, maybe, but prawns? Does demand currently exceed SFGs output of 1800 t? I too hope I am wrong and don't know what I'm talking about, but I get a slight feeling of the Sydney desal plant. Funded and successfully built, technically a success, but then left with the question of who actually needs the water? All IMO and good day to all.
