"Asked if Investors Mutual believed that Mr McClintock should not stand for re-election, Mr Tagliaferro said: "Paul has been there a long time and the company needs a breath of fresh air in the chairman's position.

"We'd look at that closely and be supportive of change. If you're going to be leaving at some point you may as well leave sooner rather than later than have a chairman elect sitting around – you may as well let him get on with the job."
