Woohooo i say - for one the sfnt stock will go up, the sales performance will improve, and perhaps they will start paying their r&d and royalty fees on time and according to contract (and if you dont know what i am talking about you havent done your research).
Another benefit is that I wont have to listen to either of them in their conference calls :) :) they drove me nuts.
in terms of how this will effect the ummmmm 'strategic aliance' - my belief is that it will only make it easier for ummm 'strategies' to be concluded (although the only real causes for the delays are dotting i's / crossing t's and perhaps opportunistic timing).
