I touched base with John regarding the reasoning behind sending the drill core to Canada on my assumption that it was due to the MA core similarities with the Canadian deposits - Raglan in particular
(and to slow down this constant speculation about takeovers of SGQ)
His reply (with my emphasis below) was
Yes, you are correct. Raglan has a similar suite of metals to our Mt Alexander ore – similar ratios of Ni, Cu, Co and PGEs. Other processing facilities in Western Australia do not have this kind of mineralisation (mainly Ni) and are not experienced in extracting maximum value for other metals.
There is an independent subsidiary of Glencore based in Falconbridge, and very good at maximising value of our type of mineralisation – they do Raglan. This is the Canadian group that we propose to complete most met testwork with.
We will announce the service provider we are using soon.
As regards potential JV partners, I think we will be spoilt for choice if we want to go down that path. Still to be considered.
