As per AFR yesterday - small extract from the article about Santos and the Moomba 191 well

Reg Nelson, managaging director of one of the country's leaders in shale, Beach Energy, said Santos had proved that shale gas would flow at Moomba but the potential of the Cooper Basin lay far deeper beneath the surface.

"We've found the shales are very much thicker, totally fully of gas and so much gas has been generated that it's about to burst out of the shale," he said.

Its not really a question of whether shale gas will be a significant contributor but when, and I think the when is sooner than people think."
