    The thing is South Africa has a carbon footprint issue due to 85% of the nation's electricity comes from burning coal. Mineral Resources Minister, Susan Shabangu, has said that shale gas will uphold South Africa's efforts of reducing its carbon emission by 42% by 2025 under the Copenhagen Accord.
