The Company, on behalf of the EP 389 Joint Venture, is negotiating with two separate US based groups to explore for shale oil/gas in the Company’s Carnarvon Basin including EP 359. There is the potential, particularly in the Jurassic aged section of the Paterson Trough for this unconventional shale gas play.

Empire has also pursued venture participation in the
conventional oil plays where there are a number of prospects located on the Bullara Trend in this Permit. An airborne geophysical survey was recorded over the Permit together with separate ground geochemical surveys being recorded with anomalies mapped coincident to seismic structural closure over the Bee-Eater Prospect.

Bee-Eater-1 is an exciting prospect located on the
eastern side of the Miocene aged Rough Range Anticline. The structural development of Bee-Eater is interpreted to predate oil generation and migration from the Paterson Trough and pre dates the Rough Range Fault and Anticline.

The timing of an early formed Bee-Eater structure enhances the possibility that it could be charged with oil to its spill point from oil migrating from the Paterson Trough. The seismically defined structure has been the subject of several geochemical surveys which have demonstrated repeated hydrocarbon anomalies over the Bee-Eater structure. The BeeEater-1 well is located nearby the Company’s Rough Range Oil Production Facility which will progress early oil production upon an oil discovery.

During the Year, road works were undertaken together with repair and maintenance on its 20-man drilling camp to ensure it is up to safety standard prior to drilling. The Bee-Eater-1 well location has been moved slightly, following further studies, to drill on the mapped crestal position of
structural closure.

Empire has estimated recoverable oil reserves in the Bee-Eater structure, which also extends into the Company’s EP 435, to contain up to 5 million barrels.

A Bee-Eater-1 discovery would initially progress the drilling of the Rainbow-1 well located on the extension of the Bee-Eater structure into the adjoining permit EP 435 and will progress further exploration drilling along a number of prospects and leads in the Company’s EP 359, EP 434, EP 435 and EP 412 Permits which are also operated by Empire Oil & Gas NL’s wholly owned subsidiary Rough Range Oil Pty Ltd.

The Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum, Petroleum and Royalties Division has granted the approval to drill Bee-Eater-1. The Bee-Eater-1 well location siteworks are near completed upon re-mapping and re-surveying of the
Bee-Eater wellsite. The Company’s drilling camp is currently located on the existing camp location Empire used for drilling Parrot Hill-2 in EP 435 in April 2007.

The Company will utilise the existing water bore, access roads and other infrastructure on this site. The Company’s 7” completion casing string has been mobilised and stacked on the Bee-Eater-1 location.

The Company intends to wait on the results of drilling the Bee-Eater-1 well in EP 359 before making the decision to drill a Bee-Eater type prospect, such as Sandalwood South instead of Thornbill-1.
A
Thermoluminescence Geochemical survey conducted on 30 August 2007 recorded anomalous results over Sandalwood South, a seismically defined structure. The Company is re-enterpreting the existing seismic data set and also evaluating the shale gas potential in portions of EP 412.
