SINGAPORE, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Shanghai zinc futures jumped by their 5 percent daily limit on Wednesday, chasing gains in the London metal, while London copper rose by more than 5 percent.
The benchmark March zinc contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange rose 545 yuan from Tuesday's settlement to 11,485 yuan, chasing a 3.1 percent gain in London futures on Wednesday.
London copper rose by 5.3 percent to a fresh 1-month high of $3,570 a tonne ahead of an re-weighting of commodity indices that are expect to boost the metal's influence. (Reporting by Nick Trevethan; Editing by Michael Urquhart)
