I think it would be treated as you purchased them at the initial price - so if each share is initially 10 cents that would be your purchase price. But I think the date of purchase would be the date you bought the FFX shares.
I'm from NZ though and have only done a couple of basic tax papers at uni. If it's a big enough amount see an expert.
