I hate share buybacks with passion . I reckon they're the ultimate scam by clueless management, to temporarily bump up the share price so they can get their performance bonuses (or be allowed to stay at the helm).

If company has some spare cash, it should be used for good purpose - settling expensive debts, restructuring, investing, etc. Higher share price will come as a consequence of decreasing the risks and running a business well.

If ARI has some cash, good use at this stage would be to buy their debts for cheap. I reckon that while the panic is on, some of debtors would be happy to get a fraction back for their unsecured loans. As a comparison, FMG recently managed to buy back some of their debt at discounts exceeding 25%.
