Yes. The lowest paid price can easily be explained. Being the biggest player, the broker can afford to continue buying when the SP is falling and when buyers are drying up. But paying the top dollar and early isn't necessary, to say the least. However, if his intention is to drive the SP up then this is justifiable and explains a lot.
