I can't see anyone really discussing this buyback here?
A buyback price at a 10% to 14% discount to the market price sounds like a lot.
There is a capital component that might make it tax advantageous for capital gains, and for tax purposes you are deemed to have sold the shares for $4.79, with the rest of the price taken as a fully franked dividend. But has anyone run the numbers on this?
If would likely cost me more in time to ask my accountant run the numbers on this whole thing than I'd potentially save rather than just selling them on-market.
