I GET IT and am with your observation that [Companies are valued by Market Cap NOT the nominal price of the share!!].

There is always a hiccup in the days preceding/following a split/consolidation but then the norm prevails and if a stock is intrinsically blue chip it moves in line with earnings and other expectations.

I am all for consolidation of low priced stocks as it generally brings in with it the institutional investors who have restrictions on investing in cheap stocks and makes brokers and bankers more likely to provide margin ? in the US large brokers will not lend a cent on shares trading under $3
