It will reduce the spread - when the shares are trading around the 10-15c range the increment for bids is .5c - that is 5%.
Post consolidation the increment will be 1c and the shareprice around $1 - which is a minimum spread of 1%.
The result should be more liquidity in the shares.
It is also probably a bit of "brand positioning" to distinguish NDO from junior juniors.
