The weapons that have been developed by metalstorm thus far aren't the reason why this entity wants control of metalstorm in my opinion? it is just that these weapons are the precursor to the much vaunted mach 5/50 or hypervelocity weapons being developed by the DSTO using metalstrom IP.
This mach 5/50 weapon is the equivalent to a poor mans rail gun, and it may even be possible to increase the velocity of these weapons beyond mach 5 as I have suggested before?
A number of years back now I posted about the possibility of using metalstorm technology in in the Rail Gun, I got a few laughs about that one I can tell you, anyway some time later my thinking was vindicated by the US in this report!

Well I reckon there is a fair chance that metalstorm IP may well be being used in these new Rail Guns that the US is developing? that alone would be a driver for them to want control, but even if it (the metalstorm IP) isn't used in any Rail Gun configuration, they sure as hell would not want it's smaller brother the mach 5/50 weapon which is almost as deadly, to proliferate, that is what is driving this I believe!
Always has been! ever since Donald Rumsfeld suggested that Metalstorm technology may do away for the need of the Crusader Tank?
A weapon like the mach 5/50 would just blow holes in these Tanks and turn them into something resembling Swiss Cheese!
