This normally happens before a SPP. Investors often sell some of their Ord shares on market to fund their SPP at a lower price which of course puts selling pressure on the SP.
Once the SPP closes, assuming it’s oversubscribed and gold holds up the SP may drift higher again as investors who didn’t get as many shares as they hoped buy on market.
