When you realise that the only way they can make their green investments look cheap without extreme taxation and pushback, is by making fossil fuels far more expensive (and as a bonus, at the fault of your geopolitical adversary) then you can finally make sense of it all.
They want inflation low (asset prices remain elevated) but fossil fuel prices high. It's a fine balance. Russia is their answer.
